Fresh Ginger, Orange & Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients:
12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
Zest of 1 orange
1–2 tsp fresh ginger, finely grated
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp DGW Merry & Bright extract
Instructions:
Prep the cranberries: Rinse and drain fresh cranberries. If frozen, no need to thaw.
Cook the fruit: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, orange juice, sugar, orange zest, ginger, and salt.
Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens (about 10–15 minutes). After removing from heat, add DGW Merry & Bright extract.
Adjust flavor: Taste and adjust sugar or ginger as needed. If you want extra zing, add a bit more fresh ginger.
Cool & store: Let cool slightly, then transfer to a jar or bowl. It will thicken more as it cools.
Ginger-Orange Cranberry Fizz
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cranberry juice (fresh if possible)
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tsp fresh ginger, finely grated
1–2 tsp honey or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
1-2 tbsps DGW Merry & Bright extract
Sparkling water or club soda, to top off
Ice
Optional (alcoholic version): 2 oz vodka or gin per serving
Orange slice and fresh cranberries for garnish
Instructions:
Make the base: In a shaker or jar, combine cranberry juice, orange juice, grated ginger, and honey/simple syrup. Shake or stir well.
Taste test: Give it a sip. Want more zing? Add a touch more ginger. Want sweeter? Add a bit more honey.
Ice it down: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the juice-ginger mixture over the ice.
Add fizz: Top each glass with sparkling water or club soda. If making your beverage alcoholic, pour vodka/gin over the ice before topping with soda.
Garnish: Add an orange slice and a few cranberries for that festive, photogenic vibe.
Sip & delight: Fresh, tangy, a little spicy, and oh-so-refreshing.
Chef's Kiss: For a warm winter twist, skip the soda and gently heat the juice mixture in a small pot. Pour into mugs and float a cinnamon stick or orange peel for cozy vibes. Boom—like a mulled cranberry-ginger punch.
